Installing Google Analytics in Blogger & WordPress



Google is introducing new products daily to make its customer's life easy and easy. There are many useful tools & websites introduced by Google i.e. Youtube, Gmail, Adword, Adsense amd Webmaster Tools etc. Google Analytic (GA) is also one of them. Basically Google Analytic is a tool which is used to track your site or blog. It is owned by Google and it is absolutely free of cost. Everyone wants to know about his blog stats and about his blog traffic so this tool will helps to get know about real traffic. You can compare your work after checking blog traffic and stat if your traffic is increasing it means that you are doing right stuff but if your traffic is going down then you have to change your strategy. In simple words Google Analytic (GA) is all in 1 to track your blog/site.

Benefits of Google Analytics:


There are many benefits of Google Analytics, as Google Analytics tells you that who visits your site? When they visit your site? Where did they arrive on your website from? What they do when they are on your website? How they interact with your site’s content?

These all are the benefits of Google Analytics, with the help of all this data we can easily know the behavior of our users and we can write the content accordingly to increase the traffic of our website.

As many newbies don't know how to set up Google Analytic on their blogs/sites. In this article I'm going to tell you how to do it. It will take only 10-15 minutes so let’s start.


How to setup Google Analytics in Blogger?


It is very easy to setup Google Analytics in your blogger blog because Now Google has added a new option in your blogger blog where you can easily paste your analytics tracking ID. OK, let’s start:

Creating a Google Analytics Property:


If you don’t have a Google account then you can make a new Google account, but if you have an old Google or Gmail account then you don’t need to make a new Google account. Simply go to Google Analytics and then sign in with your Google or Gmail account.

Adding a new property:


After signing in to your Google Analytics, now you have to create a new analytics property for your website. Simply click add new property.
  • In the website name field you have to write the name of your blogger blog.
  • In the website URL field you have to write the URL of your blogger blog. (Be sure to “http://” in the start of URL).

Getting Tracking ID:


  • After filling the above details to your property, simply scroll down the page and click Get Tracking ID.
  • After clicking Get Tracking, now read the Google Analytics Terms of Service Agreement and click “I accept”.
  • After that, you’ll get a Tracking ID, simply select the tracking ID with your mouse and copy it.

Adding Tracking ID in Blogger:


  • After getting the Tracking ID from Google Analytics, now go to your Blogger dashboard and go to the Setting of your Blogger blog.
  • In setting, click on “Other” and scroll down the page, at the end of the page you’ll see an option of Google Analytics. Paste your Google Analytics tracking ID there. 
Now you have done. Simply save the setting and wait for few moments, your Google Analytics account will start working and collecting the stats and information.


How to setup Google Analytics in WordPress?


Now a day it is very easy to add Google Analytics in your WordPress blog, there are many plugins available that can help you to add Google Analytics in WordPress.

Creating a Google Analytics Property:


If you don’t have a Google account then you can make a new Google account, but if you have an old Google or Gmail account then you don’t need to make a new Google account. Simply go to Google Analytics and then sign in with your Google or Gmail account.

Adding a new property:

Installing the Tracking Code in WordPress:


There are two ways to install the tracking code in WordPress.

  • Plugins Method (Recommended)
  • Direct Paste Method

Plugins Method (Recommended)


There are many plugins available on WordPress, you can easily find many plugins but I will recommend you to use Insert Header and Footer Plugin. This is a simple light-weight plugin.

Just install the plugin and activate it. Now go to setting tab of plugin and paste your analytics code there. That’s it. You’ve done.

Direct Paste Method:


If you are not familiar with coding and you don’t know the basics then you should not apply this method, this method is for those who know the basics of coding. Let’s start.

Go to your WordPress Dashboard. Now go to Themes > Editor and open header.php file, now find the <body> tag in header.php file and paste your Google Analytics Code right after the <body> tag. That’s it.

Now go back to your analytics tab and click on reporting. Google will take up to 12-24 Hours to start providing you with the awesome site stats.

After installing the Google Analytics in your blog/website, now you are ready to analyze the data and you will also be able to know that how should you improve your site.
